I hope everyone has had a nice summer. Hard to believe it is August 12th already.
In a few weeks soccer season will be upon us and the kids will be having fun learning the game of soccer , making new friends, having fun with their teammates and enjoying being outside at the fields. Our league has seen a resurgence of participation, especially at the in-town program this past spring with our number of players increasing year over year. I believe this has a lot to do with the great work all of our volunteers have done to make your child’s soccer experience and your experience a great one. Their commitment to our league and the children of Salem are second to none.
As our league continues to grow more people are needed to help ensure the overall experience continues to improve as well. I’m sure everyone can recall being a part of youth sports or other activities when they were growing up and remember all of the people who took time out of their schedules to help make those activities successful. Like any youth organization we can only be successful if we have people who are willing to step up and help. There is a natural turnover of volunteers that occurs at this level and soon we will see some turnover. We want to be proactive in asking for help now so that the transition from older volunteer to newer volunteer will be seamless. Besides coaching and directors we need assistants to make sure our fields are in great shape or help with equipment or assist at our concession stand. In essence many hands make light work. We all have busy schedules but the more folks we have helping the less time it takes to do those tasks.
Please contact me directly if you have a certain skill(s) that you believe would benefit our league and/or are interested in volunteering. Even donating 1 hour per week makes a big difference to the success of our league.
We have a great group of people, we do have fun and we need to have more of you on board.
I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you.
All the best,
Jim Rush
In-Town VP
